Two things amaze me: The first is that science will NOT avail itself of ancient texts as a historical record that explain the cause of these anomalies. Even if one rejects God and the Bible, it is still an acceptable historical record. Even if one rejects mythologies as mere stories, they still provide an account that parallels the biblical narrative. Thus, we have multiple records that all tell the same story, but Science rejects them. The second is that science rejects the supernatural, confining itself to a study of the natural only. Consider Sherlock Holmes memorable statement: When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth. Science goes all around the world, figuratively speaking, to ignore the obvious. If the supernatural is an extension of the natural on an abstract continuum, it would only make sense to consider the supernatural as a factor.
