U8 Black result away v Stevenage Sporting. We are having an issue establishing the exact score in the second game, we thought it was 6-1 but we have 7 goals ticked, but only 6 hand written, also we made it 4-1 in first half although others think it was 5-1 so here goes: Game 1 1-4: BUFC started really brightly in a 2-2-2 formation as picked by the boys. Oliver opened the scoring after Xander put a good switch pass in for Oli to put it in from the edge of the box. Isaac kept getting down the wing well and he finally got his rewards with a good cross which found Freds to blast the ball home. 3rd goal came from Xander who surged down the opposite wing to score from an impossible angle from outside the box. 2nd half saw us tire a b it and the game became a bit more competitive, fitness was always going to be an issue as Steve have 2 complete teams. Again it was Blacks who scored first with a great build up between Aaron and Rhys, Aaron passed to Rhys ran on into the space to receive the return pass and fired the ball home. Then came the controversial part of the game Stevenage were starting t get their chances and were playing well, Oliver had carried out 4 good saves & Rowan putting in some well timed last ditch tackles, a good shot across his goal saw the ball hit the inside of the post and come back out a loud cheer went up from the home crowd which convinced the Ref it was in, personally and according to Oliver it didnt go in but some other people thought it did. It was a hard decision and to be honest they deserved a goal for their efforts. Game 2 7-1: Xander added to his account and put the pressure on the defence to win the ball and rub on to score. Some good play was seen between Xander and Rowan passing the ball back and changing the angles of attack, this happened a couple of times and showed a good level of maturity. Jack who was no playing up front flicked the ball to strike partner Will who laid the ball off for Jack to run through and finish well. Xander was now marauding into the box on a regular basis and was brought down for a penalty, but he hit the ball a little to high. Again we began to tire and Stevenage started to put the pressure on again and scored a good goal. William then scored on his debut from the resulting kick off and it deflected in off a good shot. Second half saw a lot of goal mouth scrambles Will put a good ball through into the box and Rhys scrambled it over the line. Aaron rattled the cross bar with a fierce effort. Xander scored another 2 goals taking his total to 5 with some good solo efforts, Freds also scored a great goal from just inside the box. Goals Xander 5, Freds 2, Aaron 1, Will 1 Rhys 1, oliver 1, Man of the Match Xander. well done boys great game.
