UKCPA Introduction to Pharmaceutical Care Course 2015 – details released! The UKCPA are delighted to announce the details for their forthcoming UKCPA Introduction to Pharmaceutical Care Course, taking place at The Portland by Thistle Hotel, Manchester, 20 – 21 February 2015. The Introduction to Pharmaceutical Care Course is an intensive programme of workshops specially designed for:* pre-registration pharmacy students in 1˚ and 2˚ care* newly qualified pharmacists wanting a foundation course prior to starting a clinical diploma* pharmacists returning to practice who wish to update their clinical skills* overseas pharmacists new to clinical practice. Skills covered include: * Consultation skills in pharmacy practice * Medication review * Providing information to patients and other healthcare workers * Risk management in pharmacy practice After the success of the new Research Poster Support Session in 2014, we are delighted to announce we will be offering it again for 2015! This session aims to provide hints, tips and suggestions for delegates drafting a research paper for future presentation as a poster at either the BPSA Annual Conference or UKCPA Symposium. Attendees are asked to bring along their work (in progress) or pose questions to our experienced panel on Friday evening. The UKCPA Introduction to Pharmaceutical Care has been designed to help participants extend their clinical knowledge and to develop the skills that underpin the delivery of pharmaceutical care. This course will be invaluable to all those who wish to provide patient-focussed pharmaceutical care in either community or hospital practice. A series of clinical workshops, led by experienced practitioners, will explore the role of the pharmacist in delivering pharmaceutical care. Each workshop will use clinical case studies to illustrate key issues from both community and hospital settings. The programme also builds on the GPhC syllabus for preregistration pharmacy trainees and is an ideal course for overseas pharmacists wishing to transfer their European skills and work within a pharmacy environment in the UK. The workshop format relies on active participation by course members. In a workshop you learn by experience – skills can be practised in a supportive environment where patient safety is not compromised. Participants are encouraged to reflect on their experiences and use this to prepare their future career. **This event has been endorsed by the RPS** What previous delegates said about this course: ‘Very detailed and useful for new starters both from a hospital and community perspective’ ‘Good open forum for discussing pharmaceutical issues and learning from each others experiences’ ‘Absolutely excellent, I am really glad I came to the course. I think everything covered was really relevant and useful to daily practice. If you ran more courses suitable for pre-regs or newly qualified pharmacists I would definitely attend!’ The programme is available here: ukcpa.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/UKCPA-Intro-to-Pharma-Care-Programme-2015-v2.pdf To view the event introduction and contents page please see: ukcpa.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Intro-to-Pharma-Care-Course-2015-Intro-and-Contents-Page.pdf FEES: Full registration fee: Members £270 Non-members £340 (with FREE 1 year’s annual UKCPA membership) Includes course fee, workbook, accommodation and refreshments and lunch on both days, but excludes evening meal*.
