UN General Assembly to consider situation in Crimea on March 27 – Serheyev Kyiv, March 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The General Assembly of the United Nations will consider the situation in Crimea on March 27, Ukraines Permanent Representative to the UN Yuriy Serheyev has said. The General Assembly will meet next Thursday, March 27 at our request. Conflict prevention will be included on its agenda, the diplomat said during an interview with the Obozrevatel Internet publication. According to Serheyev, before turning to sittings at a higher level, in particular to the General Assembly, all of the required the steps in the United Nations Security Council have to be gone through. In particular, one such step was the attempt to adopt the Crimean resolution during last session. Eventually Russia vetoed it, which in turn opened the door to the General Assembly for us, Serheyev said. According to him, the Ukrainian party is preparing for the session and counts on its partners support. He added that thee General Assembly could adopt a resolution regardless of Russias position. According to protocol, a resolution can be adopted by a relative majority of those present at the session and participating in the vote, Serheyev said.
