UNCF Scholarships NCRs commitment to diversity is integrated into our shared values. The program will provide scholarship support and internship opportunities for students attending a four-year, accredited, degree granting Historically Black College/University (HBCU) pursuing a degree in engineering or information technology with preference being given to students attending Atlanta, GA HBCU(s) and residing in Atlanta. Mrs. McCants was an active member of the Jacksonville Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, and was an incredible leader, community advocate, and Pharmacist. Eligible students MUST be a resident of NE Florida (Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, or St. Johns counties), have a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average, and must be an enrolled full time student attending Florida A&M University and majoring in Pharmacy. John Scott was one of those rare artistic spirits who let the sidewalks of New Orleans speak to his soul and imagination. Through his singular art, he has left us a visual and artistic legacy that will inspire us for generations. Scott studied art at Michigan State University and Xavier University of New Orleans, where he later taught art for over 40 years. Student applying for this program must be African-American and currently enrolled full-time at Southern University of New Orleans, Xavier University of LA or Dillard University. Students in Art related majors are highly encouraged to apply. Both born and raised in the segregated South, the couple struggled financially to pursue higher education and a better life for their family. Mr. Charleston was also a lifetime member of the NAACP and supporter of Southern Poverty Law center and The United Negro College Fund, and had a long and extensive career with the Department of Corrections in California retiring as Assistant Warden at Folsom State Prison. The Charlestons hard work and perseverance has given way for them to leave a part of their legacy to those who would otherwise be unable to pursue an education, because they believed that an education is paramount in ones journey through life. The program is designed to financially assist eligible students from Allen County, Indiana.
