UNFAIR TAX – THE MOVIE: Tomorrow night a special one-time screening is taking place for Unfair Tax: The Movie. The movie will be shown at Regal Cinemas (Coldwater Road) at 7 pm. Tickets cost $12.50 per person. This documentary seeks to educate the public on the history of how taxes came to be and highlight some of the abuses committed by national tax enforcer and quasi-governmental agency, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). I have seen our volumeous tax code and can attest first hand to how it needs reformation and simplification. Taxes and tax discussion almost always pit people against businesses, conservatives against liberals, and rich against poor. I was hoping this film would be able to avoid some of those pitfalls, but its won’t and it doesn’t. It frames what would be an educational message and a call to action for a national sales tax into an anti-Obama campaign. Folks, I don’t care what your political ideology is, there are so very few things that the majority of us agree upon and one is that the IRS has way too much power….and its because of the educational nature of this film that I am promoting it. However, having said that, I do not like the educational component being wrapped in anti-Democrat/pro-Republican rhetoric. I don’t take this position as a Democrat, I take this position as a fiscal conservative. It’s the same position I would take if the educational component were wrapped in pro-Democrat/anti-Republican rhetoric. Some things just don’t need to be wrapped in political rhetoric trying to skew opinion one way or another….and this film one of those things. Still, it has an educational component that I, personally, feel more and more Americans need to be made aware of. The IRS underwent a series of reformation before September 11, 2001 and I think we are way past the time needed to return to those reformations. https://youtube/watch?v=FkLKMB6Fcc8
