UNITED NATION ORGINAZATION (UNO), GENEVA, SWITZERLAND. 25th SESSION OF HUMAN RIGHT COUNCIL FREE MAHA BODDHI VIHAR By: Nitin Gangurde Mr. President, I would like to bring your notice towards minority Buddhist community in India. The cultural right of minorities is being ignored. Secularism is a basic feature of Indian constitution but fundamentalist are stamping the cultural rights of minority Buddhist. On 8thjuly 2013 Nine blasts hit the Maha Boddhi Vihar, Buddha Gaya ,Shrine. The Holy “Boddhi Tree” was also targeted along with main shrine. Yet culprits are not punished. Mr. President, Maha Boddhi Vihar was built by Ashok emperor this is historical place for the world Buddhist people because Siddharth Gautam Buddha enlighten Knowledge (Boddhi) here under the Boddhi Tree. Recently, by force, some people used ‘Pind Danna’ in Maha Boddhi Vihar, Pind Danna is a Hindu ritual, and it is for the salvation of their ancestor’s soul. Where as Buddha did not acknowledge concept of soul. Why this Hindus are performing this ritual in Maha Boddhi Vihar? Their intention is to prejudice and humiliate Buddhist philosophy. Misuse of Buddhist Holly places like Maha Boddhi Vihara is routine practice done by Fundamentalist Hindu forces to disrespect minority religion & also, to destroy their Cultural Heritage. Mr. President, Some fundamentalist forces always want communal polarization. Majority religion people are wiping out the cultural heritage of Buddhist dynasty. All Buddhist caves and Vihars are disrespected and polluted by majority Hindus. Caves are named differently as it is named by archeology department. All the Buddhist caves and Vihars are polluted and disrespected by majority. All Stupa and caves are encroached . For example Sopara Stupa in Thane District of Maharashtra state constructed by Bikku Punna in 600 BC has been encroached by fundamentalist . Mr. President, I appeal the council to intervene in this matter and hand over Maha Boddhi Vihar to Buddhist people and protect cultural rights and heritage of Buddhist minority. I thank you.
