UPDATE AND PRAYER REQUESTS: 1. We are still waiting on an appointment date with an orthopedic surgeon to remove the foreign objects from her right arm. We are still also looking for a therapist for Hope for trauma. 2. Hope had two major meetings yesterday. One for academics and another for discussing the Baylor Childrens House transition to outpatient. Academically we are doing 3-4 hours of diagnostic testing this week in addition to full time rehab so Hope will officially be accepted into the special education department in Frisco. We met with school officials to discuss various options available to her. It looks like they are recommending homebound/one on one schooling until we can see how she adjusts to academic challenges. Then, as she squeezes in therapy and various doctors appointments and adjusts to some of the new academic projects, we will begin to implement more environmental stresses. The out patient rehab will consist of speech, physical and neuropsychology. In conclusion, Hope is in a lot of transition and shes nervous about knowing the real world application of a traumatic brain injury. Every move Hope makes to implement new activities is a challenge for strategy development in therapy. Please pray for full recovery and the ability for Hopes brain to adjust to not being the student and person she was before the accident. 3. Please pray for Ben and I to adjust to Hopes very emotional transitions. Pray for our stamina. Pray for Hopes endurance this week as we squeeze in a lot of testing in addition to rehab. Honestly, the fact that she was in a coma only 5 weeks ago feels a world away but we are still in the throws of day to day recovery. Everyday we thank God Hope is alive. Everyday we are learning how to love the new Hope as much as we adored her pre-accident. We dont expect to know the full prognosis for over a year but most of the improvements are made in the first 6 months. We are doing everything we can to maximize the benefits within her ability to endure. We lean fully on Gods strength and mercy. Hes been so faithful to us! Thank you for loving us so much.
