UPDATE FROM EARLIER POSTING ABOUT THE COFFEYVILLE REFINERY FIRE . . . . Coffeyville Resources confirms a fire occurred at its Coffeyville refinerys isomerization unit early Tuesday morning. Four employees were injured in the fire. Kenneth Mays, company spokesperson, said the fire took place at about 12:30 a.m. The fire was extinguished at about 1:18 a.m. A shutdown of the refinery was conducted, and four injured workers were transported to Coffeyville Regional Medical Center for burns. Several employees were flown to Tulsa for further medical treatment. All employees are accounted for at this time, Mays said. Initial reports indicate there was no impact to the surrounding community. Contrary to early social media reports, no explosion took place. Company officials are assessing the situation and will provide updates when they become available. James Grimmett, Coffeyville fire chief, said details of the fire were still being sorted out Tuesday morning. However, it appears refinery workers were working on a pump when it caught fire. The flames engulfed the area and resulted in the injuries, he said.
