UPDATE SUN JUNE 23, 9:00 AM The State of Local Emergency is still in effect in the Town of Cochrane. Cochrane Emergency Services is in regular contact with other emergency agencies for information, coordination of services and support. The Town of Cochrane Emergency Operations Centre remains fully operational. There are NO road major closures or bridge closures in the Town of Cochrane at this time. Official continue to monitor roads and pathways around Town. Please respect and follow any posted signage and road barricades. Waterways The Bow River and Jumping Pound Creek have stabilized. Monitoring continues. Forecasters predict that levels should continue to drop slowly. Dams and rivers are still coping with water levels at this time. No plans for major flow increase from Ghost Dam. Fortis advises still no planned power outages. Reminder: Everyone should continue to STAY AWAY FROM THE WATER. We thank Cochranites for their cooperation and remind all that the flow may be undercutting the banks and there is no way to tell if the bank is becoming unstable. Conserve Water Cochrane’s water quality remains good. There is NO boil water advisory in Cochrane. Our water treatment plant is fully operational, and the plant is working harder than under normal conditions to treat water. PLEASE take steps to reduce unnecessary water use, especially outdoors. Turn off automatic sprinkler systems. Evacuation Lifted Voluntary evacuation for Cochrane communities named in previous updates has been LIFTED. Reception Centre for evacuees is CLOSED. Troops Department of National Defense troops are based at the old Cochrane arena and the area of the lagoon (exact location being confirmed). They are using Cochrane as a staging point for assistance to other communities. The troops are not being deployed in the Town of Cochrane. Search and Rescue Cochrane Search and Rescue volunteers are assisting RCMP in a variety of tasks, including monitoring conditions. Please continue to cooperate with officials. Volunteers Volunteers are NOT needed at the moment. The force of Mother Nature has been clearly demonstrated, let’s show Mother Nature the strength of the generous spirit in Cochrane and let’s fill the food banks. If residents would like to help out locally, donation bins are available at No Frills, Safeway and Sobey’s.
