UPDATE: We are sorry to report that we can now confirm that NINETEEN firefighters were killed in the Yarnell Hill, AZ fire today. Reportedly the crew got into a catastrophic situation where sudden, fierce winds created a wave of fire which caught these volunteer firefighters from Prescott in a ridge, unable to retreat to the safe zones. They were forced to deploy their fire protection tents (metal foil-based), but the fire was so intense that only 1 out of the crew of 20 survived. Truly a horrific, unimaginable tragedy. To put it in perspective, this is by far the most firefighters killed in a single action since 9/11/2001 at the WTC, and in a single incident is 25% of the entire number of firefighters killed nationwide in 2012. PRAYERS for the fallen. Prayers for their families. Prayers to the 200 brave souls still battling this monstrous blaze.
