UPDATED FISHING REPORT: Most of the week it’s been a mixed bag; we have seen Spanish mackerel, flounder, whiting, reds, and blues all in good number. The Spanish are dining on frozen cigar minnows, Gotcha lures, bubble rigs, and live bait while the reds and blues have been munching on just about anything you throw at them. Whiting have been caught in the surf as well as on the pier using frozen cut bait. The flounder have been enjoying our frozen shrimp. Speaking of shrimp, have you tried our new Manic Shrimp lures? They have received rave reviews by pier fishers. They move and look just like real shrimp. If you can get your hands on one, we highly recommend that you do. Mid-afternoon, has been more productive due to the water temperature. Most of the time Spanish are found near the end of the piers, but this week many of them have been caught mid-pier due to the plentiful bait fish available. The bait of choice has been frozen cigar minnows and live bait caught on Sabiki Rigs. Many fish this week have been entered into the Fall Fishing Challenge going on until November 3rd at both piers. There are prizes for the largest fish caught in four categories: King Mackerel, Flounder, Spanish mackerel, and Pompano. There’s no registration fee for this event. Now that the blistering heat is over, get out and enjoy a day or just a few hours of fishing. You can’t beat the view, the weather, or the comradery that you’ll find at the end of a pier. Grab your best fishing buddy and get out there. Fishing is good for the mind, body, and soul!
