UPDATED: WASHINGTON -- New York Congressman Chris Gibson took the oath of office for the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday, and announced it will be his last term. As I stated shortly after retiring from the US Army and first pursuing a seat in Congress in 2010, he said in a press release, I planned to self-impose term limits.. Moving forward, I will be committed to building a stronger team so that the GOP can compete and win statewide in 2018, including the possibility of being a candidate in that cycle. The Kinderhook Republican easily won re-election in November, defeating venture capitalist Sean Eldridge in what was initially expected to be a tight race.
