UPND distances itself from purported Tonga song. I Cornelius - TopicsExpress

UPND distances itself from purported Tonga song. I Cornelius Mweetwa MP for Choma Central and UPND Deputy Spokesperson am dismayed to hear about the accusations being purported across sections of the media concerning an alleged song in which Bembas are discriminated against in the Tonga language. This rumour has been met with grave concern by my fellow MPs in Southern Province. We have all consulted on the matter and concluded that these reports are falsehoods designed to diminish the standing of the UPND and in turn denigrate our clear message of a United Zambia. Even though this claim is clearly untrue and has no link to the UPND party it raises an issue that all Zambians regardless of tribe, province or political affiliation must remain vigilant against: that of tribalism. We in the UPND do not condone any format of discrimination; racism or tribalism and we expect the same standards in the other parties who we will compete against in January’s election. As UPND and our party President Hakainde Hichilema, we have continued to preach the message of unity and hope with the foundations being on an issue-based campaign: this message has so far been accepted countrywide. Signed, Cornelius Mweetwa MP, Deputy Spokeperson of the UPND ___________________________ UPND Information (PI Dept) 1
