URGENT: MY OFFICIAL LEGAL STATEMENT TO EVERYONE FOLLOWING AND READING/SHARING MY POSTS ON FACEBOOK: It was brought to my attention today by two officers of the RCMP that some of my posts on Facebook contained messages that have been interpreted as threatening violence. I wish to make clear that I do not intend for myself nor do I intend for others to engage in violent activities that would cause harm to others or that may cause harm directly or indirectly to myself. As many of you know, I am in the process of documenting Israeli War Crimes in Gaza that have been taking place in the last month under the current Operation Protective Edge for a record that will be submitted to the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Israel. My intention is to use the tools of domestic and international law and the democratically protected rights of freedom of expression guaranteed under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms in Canada to document injustice. Please disregard any past message or posting contained on my Facebook account that you believe has or may appear to threaten the use of violence. I will continue with my documentation project on Israeli War Crimes. Having spoken with my legal counsel and clarified the matter with the RCMP, my firm understanding is that criticism of the tactics, policies and actions of the Israeli state in its invasion of Gaza constitutes defensible free speech provided that it does not threaten violence. This is precisely the manner in which I intend to continue my documentation work.
