URGENT NEED TO ADDRESS INTER COMMUNAL HARMONY;;;;;;; DEAR HON HAJI;;;SENATOR;;;GARISSA COUNTY;;;;HIS EXCELLENCY NADHIF JAMAA;;;GOVERNOR;;GSA COUNTY;;;;;;;;; Over the last 50 years political opportunism have connived to make the relationship of our communities"one of hostilities and deep suspicion.The low intensity conflict over water,pasture,land boundaries,contracts,plots and employment has led to the loss of innocent lives and destruction of properties and livelihoods.We also must recognize the role of unequal distribution of resource in fanning animosity and sense of exclusion.HOWEVER the clan wrangles that characterize local politics continue and is replicated into the county,This is eventually slowing down service delivery and compromising operational independence of public institutions. Political interference,Nepotism and cronyism must now give way to a culture of MERITOCRACY.Our county government Must make every effort to rebuild the relationship of our communities to post independence levels.It should be one of peaceful; coexistence,harmony,Equal Opportunity and constructive dialogue over common issues.We must challenge ourselves always to unite in development matters for a greater good. We therefore request you to come with a framework of INTER-CLAN DIALOGUES and roundtables to ensure issues of public interest are attended to at the lowest level of community. Beings as it is now,the most conflicts are fuelled and sustained by struggle for access to resource,the same can only be effectively resolved by addressing issues surrounding sharing of water,pasture,employment,public contracts and other resources within an overarching framework of social justices. OPEN,ACCOUNTABLE,MEASURABLE AND INCLUSIVE GOVERNANCE You need to initiate innovative and socially progressive programmes to drastically reduce chronic poverty in the long term through proper policies,planning and building of partnership with District,constituencies and partners both local and international. We have stood critical of and condemned the corruption,impunity and luck of accountability at the national level over the years. In deed, as part of the greater Garissa county,We have suffered adverse consequences of political and economic marginalization.This experience teaches us that we cannot inherit and transfer these very social injustices and political malpractice from Nairobi to GSA county. Senator and Governor i hope u have appointed and inspired a County Executive committee and County Public services committed to serving the citizens with transparency,accountability and enthusiasm.The people need to know how their money and resources are being used.In deed,it is their right to know.Only in this way can ordinary citizens understand and appreciate their County Government .Only in this way can you regain and secure their faith and trust. Sir your meeting of yesterday in Garissa was ill advise and you must have learnt a lot,it was not an inclusive leadership meeting, plz accommodate others who boycotted and address the grievance and concerns in order for all of us to move together to the direction of development instead of you be seen as atoganising certain section of our community or building an alliance of convince. There is need to facilitate and engage with the elected leadership of the three constituencies that did not attended in the yesterday forum. i hope this advise serves you well? thank YOU;; GOD BLESS OUR COUNTY;;;;;AMIN
