URGENT! PLEASE SHARE! Man poses as an animal control officer to steal dogs A man in his early twenties posed as an animal control officer in Hardwick, MA on November 6, 2013 in order to steal a familys pet. He was wearing a black ball cap and driving an older gray or silver, windowless van. He is approximately 59”, 160 lbs and sporting a reddish brown mustache. Hardwick police Cpl. Kevin M. Landine said the incident occurred on Greenwich Road, according to the Telegram and Gazette. The suspect approached a home and told the homeowner “he was responding to a nuisance dog complaint.” The man left when the homeowner called the police. The animal control officer in Hardwick is actually a woman, Tina Lindsey. Lindsey assures there are procedures and protocols in place, and typically the owner of a dog is notified in advance. She urges individuals to keep a close eye on their pet. In years past there have been incidents of people picking up dogs to use for bait dogs or to sell, Lindsey said. Anyone with any information should contact the Hardwick police at 413-477-6708.
