URGENT: Rudy needs help! Senior Golden Retriever needs surgery - PLEASE SHARE RUDYS STORY Rudy was signed over to us last week from an owner who wasnt in the position to look after him. They felt Rudy was better off somewhere else, that it was in Rudys best interest to give him up, and we agreed - this person is kind, but is having a hard enough time meeting their own needs right now. Were told that Rudy was in another home for the first five or six years of his life, and then was given to his most recent owner when his original family had to move. If he gets a clean bill of health, will be placed up for adoption - we want his next home to be his last. Rudy needs surgery because has been suffering for the last month with a large growth in his mouth over one of his teeth that has been preventing him from eating properly. His former owner couldnt afford to take him to the vet; we took him last week as soon as we got him. The vet told us he needs surgery to remove the growth. He is scheduled for surgery at Sunrise Animal Hospital on Tuesday, Nov. 18th to have it removed. The estimated cost is $750-$950, possibly more. Once the growth is removed, it will be sent away for biopsy to determine whether it is cancerous. Rudy will also be neutered while under. In the meantime, he is eating wet food, and doesnt appear to be sick otherwise - we have our fingers crossed that it isnt cancerous, and he will get the good retirement he deserves.
