US President, Barrack Obama, has said President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, won last year’s Presidential elections in Kenya, in a free, fair and democratic manner and urged the opposition to accept and wait for 2017 election. In a statement through his Ambassador to Kenya, Robert Godec, Obama said the US Government recognizes President Kenyatta as the Headof State, thus rubbishing reports from some sections of the media that the US Government recognizes Opposition Leader, Raila Odinga. The Ambassador also said the US Government does not support any politician in Kenya but it supports the Jubilee Government under President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto.Regarding Monday’s Saba Saba rally at Uhuru Park, Godec urged Raila Odinga to call off the rally saying the rally may renew the 2007-08 post election violence where over 1,300 people died and over half a million were displaced.“The US Government requests former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, to call offthe rally and use the necessary channels to address his issues. Rallies will not solve the problems facing Kenyans,” Godec said.
