USAID LEAD Project [Please tell a friend to read this post]:::: I have listened to many uninformed people speculate about the Democracy Project offending our Sovereignty. Now. If our Leaders are afraid of a simple textbook style, open platform project then it begs several questions including why be concerned if you know you are leading a true democracy? The very nature of the political culture will sustain law and order. I am qualified to talk about this because I am a part of it. I was engaged as a citizen and thought and still do think it is important for Guyanese to understand who they are and the powers they have. Looking at the content for the country-wide workshops I could have only reflected on my university life where the same information was given me in part. 10 QUICK Things I know. 1. Having Guyanese freely participate in a project and see the facts does not choke our sovereignty. 2. Telling people about the Arms of Government and what each is responsible for will not stab our sovereignty its neck. 3. Letting Guyanese know that we rank somewhere around 76 vs Venezuela who is at app. 95 in a world rankings of democratic countries- 1 being most democratic, doesnt kick sovereignty in the leg. 4. Educating GUYANESE about their rights and responsibilities and the fact that a constitution exists for us to read and know doesnt strangle our sovereignty. 5. Teaching people how to write petition letters and get involved in civic engagement doesnt stab sovereignty in its back. 6. Sharing history with GUYANESE about the political landscape and where we are at today doesnt cause sovereignty a tooth. 7. Having GUYANESE who believe that the content is needed in this country act by being the implementing partners of same project doesnt take away sovereignty from GUYANESE or GUYANA. 8. Having our peoples understand that our GOVERNMENT IS ACCOUNTABLE TO US doesnt shake our sovereignty. 9. Having GUYANESE take a bite at the content and decide to swallow or spit it out doesnt slap sovereignty in the face. 10. The fact that you can revoke a mans work permit and no one STOPS you means that Sovereignty is healthy and intact. I speak for myself and all those who are afraid to speak out even at the expense of having my birth certificate revoked. Leaders are failing to realise that this is not a soap opera, you dont get points for theatrics, this is the real deal, real lives, real issues and MORE needs to be done for our people. If we are not a democratic state, tell us that, tell us we should be socialist by Cheddie/Burnhams historic once preferred ideologies and deal with the masses. Tell us that the only way to keep us quiet is to throw theme parties and shows because we will be busy distracted from midnight to 6am and forget our problems. Tell us that you give the people what they want and they will be happy with you, only thing is they will one day realise their needs. I SPEAK FREELY WITHOUT FEAR OF FAVOUR BECAUSE I LOVE THIS COUNTRY and MY FELLOW GUYANESE. Some of you will sit in offices and look for flaws in my pronouncements - feel free to find them, I have a conscience and I owe to it as much as using my voice to call a spade a spade. AND. Because. I. Live. In. A. Sovereign. State. I. Will. Revoke. Any. Post. That. Tries. To. Destabilise. This. Post. #longlivesGuyana #longlivesthegreat592
