Uduaghan charges Pinnick to revive Nigerian football on October 14, 2014 / in Sports 12:26 am / Comments Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, yesterday, charged the newly elected President of Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Melvin Pinnick to try by all means to revive the fortune of Nigerian Football, saying that posterity will hold him responsible for the success or otherwise of the assignment before him. Governor Uduaghan gave the charge while speaking at the thanksgiving service by Pinnick at the First Baptist Church, Warri, to appreciate God for his victory at the NFF Elective Congress held in Warri recently. He said that Nigerian Football is in shamble and needs a versatile and result oriented soccer administrator like Pinnick to revive the dwindling fortune of the game that Nigerians reverend so much, noting that it was so bad that Nigeria is now losing in almost every game in the qualifying matches’ en route to Morocco 2015. “When he told me he was going for the position I was more worried about how he will succeed because football in this country is next to the worship of God. After God in the world, the next is football. So whatever you do and bring Nigeria football down, the prayers against you, you will not believe. But if you succeed, the prayers for you and celebration are beyond what you can imagine. It is a big challenge and that is why he needs a lot of our prayers.” “Like Rev. Okoroji told you, you also need personal prayers like Nehemiah did. He prayed, fasted, reflected and he personal assessed by going round to make a personal assessment. Nehemiah is one of the greatest leaders for me in the bible and any leadership with the qualities of Nehemiah will definitely succeed because right there, there are the strategies between the good, the bad and the ugly,” Governor Uduaghan stated. He described Amaju as a man who has passion not only for football but for administration as he has demonstrated in his early days, adding that he has the confidence that with the desired support he was going to succeed in his new assignment. “Let me also say and tell you Amaju, all of us here we love football and you have been given a responsibility to handle what we all love. Today, our football is in shambles. Just yesterday, we lost to Sudan and by God’s grace that is the lowest it should go. Whatever it will take to bring our football back, please do it. The expectation is high but with God on your side, you shall succeed. We will be praying for you, we shall give you all the support.” The Officiating Minister and the Associate Pastor, First Baptist Church, Warri, Rev. J.C. Okoroji (Jr), in his message titled, “Nehemiah Pattern,” charged Pinnick Amaju to carry out his assignment in the fear of God and expressed the belief that he will succeed in taking Nigeria football to the next level. - See more at: vanguardngr/2014/10/uduaghan-charges-pinnick-revive-nigerian-football/#sthash.K2CCUzHN.dpuf
