Ultimately having situational awareness, and being level headed - TopicsExpress

Ultimately having situational awareness, and being level headed will go further than any round can CQB a pistol is superior, undeniable, good hollow point rounds wont over penetrate much either. But the aspect of weapon retention, and mobility is hard to beat, even by a shotgun. I disagree, especially inside ones home, I have a 5.56, the rounds go through a person, a wall, cinder block, and keep going if possible. a 12gauge can be loaded with rock salt, or small BBs that are softer is ideal. If penetration is that much of a concern, use less lethal rubber slugs or bean bag rounds. Look at what Johnny Knoxville got hit with in the Jackass, movie and tell me that isnt effective. A shotgun also allows for some fudge factor, using buck, turkey, rock salt, bbs, etc, meaning, you have better time hitting a target when you are thrashed with adrenaline, you arent fully awake etc. Slugs are wicked up to 100 yards, you can quickly drop a slug round in the chamber for a duress shot if thats the scenario. 1 oz slug is a no brain-er for stopping power at close ranges. I just see 5.56x45/7.62x39 as SHTF rounds, to protect yourself on the go, or from any large groups of marauders etc. When things get that bad, you will likely have to scout ahead to defend you, your family, and friends.
