Under 14 Division 1 Tramore Ath 1 Lakewood Ath 3 After the postponement of yesterday’s double header at Tramore Park due to strong winds, it was great to see action today on the perfect surface. Tramore were up against it against table toppers Lakewood but were quickly in to their stride forcing 2 excellent saves from the Lakewood keeper and Andrew O’Connell shot inches wide when put through one on one with the keeper. Unfortunately the difference between the 2 sides was ultimately the ability to take chances and the visitors gleefully took their first chance on 9 minutes to go one up. Rocked back Tramore struggled for 5 minutes but were soon back in the ascendancy in the main through the mazy runs of the outstanding left wing Thomas Murphy. One such run yielded the corner that lead to Tramore’s equaliser on the half hour. Ronan Dalton’s excellent delivery from the left was headed goal wards by Ben Healy only to be headed off the line in to the path of O’Connell who volleyed home. Tramore’s domination continued but after a goal mouth melee the visitors were back in front against the run of play on 42 minutes. Tramore responded by playing some of their best football with Ben Healy having a sublime finish ruled out for an alleged off side and minutes later the same player put a dent in the post with another sweet strike which might have gone in on any other day. Lakewood finally broke the Tramore resistance with their third strike with 10 minutes to go. Tramore never stopped trying and surely their luck must change soon.
