Under 16 County Final Our Under 16 footballers fell at the final hurdle yesterday at Fraher field in Dungarvan losing to The Nire in the Div2 decider on a score line of 3:04 to 1:07. Kilmac opened the game brightly and enjoyed the vast majority of possession however we failed to convert some good scoring chances early on. Two quick breaks by the The Nire yielded goals and from there on we played catch up. Our young team rallied again and played some great football picking off some excellent points from play, a goal late on in the second half brought us back to within a single point. The Nire finished strongly and victory was denied. Unsavoury scenes near the end of the match slightly soured which was a great sporting game. Our young players showed mature composure where others failed. Again well done guys, a big thanks to the Ballyduff lower club for assisting us this year. This journey plus the Under 16 hurlers Div 1 championship run proves our players can compete at the highest level. For the Record The Kilmacthomas GAA Club Under 16 football panel was; Josh Moore, Johnny Long, Mikey Mears, Ronan Dunphy, James Organ, Calum Lyons, Peter Gallagher,Cormac Dunphy, Dan Cusack, Jake Power, John Kennedy, Alan Fitzsimons, Ross Coffey O Shea, Dylan Reade, Dean Walsh, Danny Sutton, Reece Power, Colm Dempsey, Ben Kennedy, Mikey Fitzgearld Shane Fanning and Conor Walsh.
