Unfortunately I will not be in attendance at my Grandads funeral today - I came to the conclusion that he would much rather me go to Amsterdam and enjoy a few beers in his honor instead. I will be thinking of him as we fly over the channel - just as he did as a 19 year old paratrooper 70 years ago to help contribute to making sure that we are all here enjoying life today. As far as war stories go, my Grandads is by far the best... He had a mission the night before D-Day to parachute in to Normandy and destroy the long range Nazi weaponry which could have prevented the beach landings. His mission didnt go exactly to plan, he leapt from the aeroplane in to Normandy not knowing what to expect when he landed. The last thing he expected as he deployed his parachute and came down to land in the dead of night was to land directly on top of a sleeping cow 🐮 - True Story! 😂 He spent his opening minutes on the ground that evening trying to evade a field of angry cattle before he even had a chance to worry about being shot at by Nazis 🏃🐮🐮🐮🐮. They went on to complete the mission, disabling the weaponry and in doing so contribute to Britain being victorious on D-Day. 🇬🇧 Legend 🇬🇧 🇬🇧 R.I.P. 🇬🇧
