Unfortunately we live in a society where kids and parents feel entitled and think that everyone deserves a participation trophy. I wasnt the best growing up and I admit going to a small high school let me participate in varsity sports opposed to going to a big school. But I never threw a tantrum if I didnt get mvp or most improved. We learned to deal with it and it made kids my age work harder next year or in the next sport. This article is spot on, if youre kid is not good enough they are not going to play. Now this mostly applies to varsity sports and even JV. But look how competitive youth leagues are now a days, try being a coach and preach playing for fun while your team is getting clobbered. The kids lose interest and it doesnt become fun so yes it is about winning cause if its not then what are we really teaching the kids, its ok to lose and accept failure. Thats my rant lol
