Unity lose to Bulkington by 14 runs in tight game With Captain - TopicsExpress

Unity lose to Bulkington by 14 runs in tight game With Captain SK Miller redundant on the sidelines with a stubbed toe, enjoying some flat Stella 4 and abuse from Reevo in the sun, stand-in skipper Craig Brookes aka Candy Alvares confirmed what a useless tosser he is. Unity were bowling. Jeff King, now known as Miley Cyrus because he goes through top orders like a wrecking ball, opened up and was quickly into his stride with Colonial taking a dolly at cover. Nick Sissons had found some time away from taking selfies and was doing his usual trick, probing away outside off with some bounce and movement and causing problems (6-3-17-0). The wily fox King snuck out 2 more, bowling number 3 before Craig Brookes aka Pablo Escabar took a stunning diving catch at mid off (8-1-18-3). Mini-Miller Will Hodkinson, replaced Sissons and bowled well without reward, pitching the ball up after a few short overs, finding some movement to beat the edge. DPR was introduced but struggled initially, bowling a little flat and quick at a batsman looking to smear everything. A spell of carnage followed with Unity losing control and needing to calm down, with overthrows and dropped catches starting to creep in. Briefcase soon found a bit of rhythm and got his field right after a tampon-winning strop about the correct place for 1st slip to stand, and got his reward with the danger man out for 50 caught OJB at cow. Bowling with a bit more loop proved much harder to hit and he came back well to concede 43 from his 8, having gone for 22 off 2 (8-1-43-1). Adam Guest then selfishly ruined the plan to keep the batsmen in, who were creeping along at a pace Broughton and OMalley would be proud of, by bowling one in a highly economical spell of 7-1-14-1. Craig Brookes aka Che Guevara started a revolution with a double wicket over to start with a catches Arndog. The destroyer Arnett was brought on to keep a 9 year old batsman in, but hadnt read the plan because he bowled him for 0 straight away - a Shearer celebration, shirt off and knee slide fully justified by the season ticket holders in the Pavillion. Arnett denied 2 more by drops by Andy, keeping as Ian was not silly mid off and being called village by someone who clothed a full toss to mid on. Craig Brookes aka Julio Iglesias then dropped one on the cow boundary, denying Arnett undying glory. Unity chasing 167 to win. Sturmey and Maddams opened up and set about the bowling, putting on 50 in 6 overs. Sturmey, wearing the new Pinocolada helmet with an umbrella on top, slicing through or over the off side and Andy hitting anything short or full through the leg side. Sturmey then went caught point for 21 with Andy soon following bowled for 32. Arnett carried on, hitting a few boundaries to keep Unity well above the rate. A poor decision to send Colonial back for 3, caught down leg when not even playing a shot, started a collapse - the oppositions captain seemed to find this funny and laughed about buying wickets and keep appealing. OBowery (2) planted one straight to mid offs hands before Craig Brookes (2) aka Chico Flores was stumped falling over. Sheldon Cooper (2) came and went caught close to the wicket and Arnett crashed a long hop to cover for 23 leaving Unity reeling at 80-6 having been 50-0! A good partnership from youngsters Sissons (9) and Hodkinson (30) who showed the more senior players how to do it, batting sensibly, playing straight and hitting the gaps. All that was needed was for 2 to stay there as Unity need 1 an over. However Adam Guest had other ideas and picked out mid off before Will played a shot too many and was caught behind for a very well made 30. Bit tighter in the field and we’d have snuck home but ultimately the batters fault for not showing more patience on a benign wicket. MOTM – Will Hodkinson for improved bowling and superb batting
