Upcoming lane closures due to H-1 rehab projectHere’s the upcoming schedule for planned lane closures due to the H-1 Freeway Rehabilitation Project. Considering the approach of Tropical Storm Wali to the islands, all projects are weather permitting. — H-1 FREEWAY — HONOLULU Midnight Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday: Partial closures on the H-1 Fwy. in the eastbound direction between Middle St. and the Ward Ave. overpass. 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday: Partial closures of the Pali Hwy. off-ramp, the Kalihi St. on-ramp and the Punchbowl St. on-ramp on the H-1 Fwy. in the westbound direction. 8 p.m.-5 a.m. Sunday through Friday, July 25: Full closures on the H-1 Fwy. in the westbound direction between the Ward Ave. overpass and Middle St. PEARL CITY TO WAIPAHU 3 a.m.-noon Sunday: Two right-lane closures on the H-1 Fwy. in the westbound direction between the Pearl City/Waimalu off-ramp (Exit 10) and the Waipahu off-ramp (Exit 8B) for viaduct deck repairs. SALT LAKE TO HONOLULU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT 9 p.m.-4 a.m. Friday through Monday: Right-lane closures on the H-1 Fwy. in the eastbound direction between the Radford Dr. overpass and the Airport off-ramp (Exit 16) for deck repairs. Speed limits will be reduced to 15 mph in order to minimize traffic-induced vibrations that may lead to cracking or delaminations in the newly repaired deck. Airport Viaduct improvements include concrete deck replacements, expansion joint repairs and pavement restriping. Work is located between the Pearl Harbor interchange and the Keehi interchange. — H-2 FREEWAY — WAIPIO 8:30 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday through Thursday: Lane closures on the H-2 Fwy. in the Honolulu-bound direction between the Ka Uka Blvd. off-ramp (Exit 2) and the Waiawa Road overpass for the rail project. — NIMITZ HIGHWAY — HONOLULU 9 p.m.-9 a.m. Friday through Sunday: Full closure on Nimitz Hwy. at the intersection of Valkenburgh St. and Nimitz Hwy. due to deck repairs happening above. 9 p.m.-4 a.m. Friday through Monday: Lane closures on Nimitz Hwy. in the eastbound direction between Elliott St. and Aolele St. as a safety precaution due to deck repairs happening above. 8:30 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday: Lane closures on Nimitz Hwy. in the eastbound direction between Waiakamilo Road and Smith St. for the rail project. — PALI HIGHWAY — NUUANU 6-11 a.m. Saturday: Left-lane closure on Pali Hwy. in the eastbound direction between School St. and Pauoa Road for utility maintenance. 6 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday: Right-lane closure on Pali Hwy. in the southbound direction between the tunnels and Waokanaka St. for road maintenance. — ALA MOANA BOULEVARD — KAKAAKO 9 p.m.-5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday: Lane closures on Ala Moana Blvd. in the eastbound direction between Cooke St. and Piikoi St. for utility installations. — VINEYARD BOULEVARD — 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday: Single lane closure on Vineyard Blvd. in the eastbound direction between Queen Emma St. and Miller St. for repaving work. The H-1 Rehabilitation Project is upgrading the freeway sub-surface and asphalt to provide a longer-lasting, smooth riding surface, provide an additional lane in each direction, install upgraded lighting, improve drainage, and install glare screens along the median.
