Update - The hematologist does not believe I have any type of blood disorder/disease/cancer. What we know for sure - at 4:30 am this morning, my hemoglobin count was 7, and my iron was 30 (normal range is 62-196). Most other numbers are good. The common consensus is I am losing blood somewhere (the only rational explanation for the low hemoglobin and iron), but none of the procedures performed thus far have shown any source. The next step is to swallow a camera (going where no man has gone before). The old science fiction movie Fantastic Voyage comes to mind - for those of you old enough to remember it. I have just gotten word I am Nothing By Mouth after midnight, so I think I will be undergoing this procedure tomorrow. I also received intravenous iron this afternoon and am receiving another unit of blood right now. Many thanks to all of you for your kind words and prayers.
