Update: Mike is going to survive this one too!! Many of you have been asking why this happened. Mike has a blood disorder called Factor V Leiden (mayoclinic.org/.../basics/definition/con-20032637) that almost killed him before they diagnosed it about ten years ago. Doctors then put a titanium filter called Trap Ease in to keep blood clots from going into his heart or lungs, and put him on Coumadin. If the Coumadin is not adjusted (based on blood tests) each month and the dosage is off at all then the blood can become too thick again and cause clotting. Ultra sounds show he now has multiple blood clots in both legs and the filter is clogged. This can be life threatening if not caught early enough. I did not realize how important those monthly visits for blood work were and allowed him to miss his appointments in Nov and Dec... never again!! They will keep him at Gwinnett Medical Center for several days while they administer shots of blood thinner in addition to possibly changing him from Coumadin to a newer prescription that is not as sensitive to diet changes and will not have to be monitored as closely. He has been on the Coumadin for over ten years now and whenever Doctors tried to take him off of it in the past then he had clotting. He has previously had episodes that resulted in coma, and even an appointment to have his legs amputated but thanks to an experimental surgery they were able to save his legs, he was in a wheel chair for a while, and suffered kidney failure.... and many more complications due to this blood disorder. Mike has seen many miracles including overcoming diabetes and even his kidneys coming back 100% after 3 months on dialysis. Praise God for His obvious hand over Mikes life!!
