Update from Allison Thomson regarding court proceedings today Hugo - TopicsExpress

Update from Allison Thomson regarding court proceedings today Hugo Ras syndicate. Well the result from today is that they will all stay in prison until 19th January. No special treatment for anybody. Except for Hugo Ras who now wants to apply for bail and will be appearing in the Hatfield Court tomorrow morning to apply for a date for his bail hearing to be heard. Will keep you all posted. Well done to the prosecuting team for a job well done. It is very difficult, under our constitution, to deny somebody their freedom when they have as yet not been found guilty of a crime. Everybody has a right to continue to earn an income and support their families unless the case against them is so strong and robust that the courts feel that their release will either allow them to flee the country (and there is a risk of that in this case as some of the charges they face have a life sentence as a penalty) and if the courts feel that the accused could interfere with evidence or witnesses or cause a public outrage. So to keep 10 accused in jail pending their trail is really not easy to achieve.
