Update on Dad: he has been extubated and is breathing on his own. Still in ICU to make sure he can handle it. Hes awake and hes PISSED! They have him restrained b/c hes already made several attempts to pull out feeding tube and cath. He is in a lot of pain and very confused. Hes frustrated b/c he cant talk yet, but is trying to. If he gets too wound up, and vitals get whacky (BP and heart rate) then theyll have to intubate again. Please keep prayers and well wishes coming for pain relief and stronger lungs. Were very hopeful now that soon hell graduate from ICU and can start PT, eating on his own, and just focus on his recovery. Hes made it clear that he does not want to be left alone there...so we are taking shifts to ensure he feels safe and relaxed.
