Update on Main Gate It is still expected that the main gate will close sometime Monday after 8 a.m. for roadwork and construction (guard shacks) on Inyokern Road between the start of the Stations boundary to the traffic barriers on Inyokern Road. This will be a total gate closure, including pedestrian and bicycle traffic. All traffic from Inyokern Road and China Lake Boulevard will be diverted to Blandy Gate. Personnel are asked to have their appropriate badge ready to hand to the guard at Blandy Gate and not to engage the guard in conversation to allow a smoother flow of traffic. It was recommended, and approved, that the stop sign at Bullard be covered or removed to prevent backup of traffic. Drivers are reminded to be on the lookout and cautious since pedestrians and bicyclists will also be using and/or crossing the roads. The Main Gate closure should have no impact on access to Pass & ID; nor will it impact the Richmond Gate hours, as Blandy Gate should be able to handle traffic during off-duty hours. It is expected that the Main Gate will be closed to sometime in November. Further information will be forthcoming prior to the start of the school year.
