Update on Tom: Today was uneventful and for now, that is a good day and I will take it. He slept most of the day, but I did sense that just maybe he might be recovering ever so slightly from this new bout of pneumonia. He did not cough as much, and his mind was back in the game today. The Speech Therapists came by and inserted the speaking valve into his trachea and for a brief 15-minutes (did not want to tire him), he was able to talk. A little hard to do when he has an audience of two doctors, two speech therapists, a respiratory therapist and his wife -- but I was able to coax a few stories out of him to get him to exercise his vocal chords. He was a little anxious as I was leaving later in the day to travel home to the Northern Neck to run errands and catch up on a few things and would not be back until Wednesday. This will be the first day (Tuesday), that I will not be spending the day with him at the hospital. Hard to believe that tomorrow is his 48th day in the hospital. It brings tears to my eyes to know I wont see him tomorrow -- hate not being there and I already miss him. Thank you God for being with Tom, for keeping him calm and giving him peace during my absence. Please send angels to be with him tomorrow and always. My prayer to you, dear Lord is to heal my precious husband, the love of my life, completely and bring him home soon, in Jesus name I ask this of you. Amen.
