Found as a stray on a Queens stray, he’s sitting in a small cage at Brooklyn ACC and saying to everyone “get me out of here!” So right about now, all the Chi owners out there are smiling ‘cause any Chi worth his tiny weight has got to let folks know how he feels! Will’s medical showed he’s got 8 year old teeth that might need a bit of cleaning but no other medical issues when he got there. When it came time for his behavioral eval, Will thought that finally, somebody was coming to take him out to do his business in a clean place and to let him stretch those little legs. Instead, they took him to a new room with some new people where he tried his best. Described by the assessor as “sociable toward the handler”, he was fine with the “look”, playing tag and the “squeeze”. Now he had to draw the line at that hand trying to move his food so he growled (didn’t bite) and just ate faster. But when that strange dog came into the room, he really had to stand his ground—what self-respecting Chi wouldn’t. All that has led ACC to decide that Will Smith belongs on tomorrow’s euthanasia list. Tonight, Will Smith needs to find that person who looks at him and just instinctively knows what he’s saying. He needs to find that person who understands that this is a very scared little guy who just wants somebody’s lap to sit on, who just wants to be in a real home, who just wants to go on with his life. If that’s you, then step up to foster or adopt Will Smith. But do it quick—tomorrow at noon, Will Smith will happily come out of his cage thinking he’s finally going out but instead, he’ll just go to that room from which no dog returns.
