Useless, Therefore Discard! You are the salt of the earth. - TopicsExpress

Useless, Therefore Discard! You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. (Matthew 5:13) Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is fit neither for the soil, nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out. (Luke 14:34-35) An individual, though in the world, must become unique if he is to be of value to God. An individual, while living in sinful practices is useless to God as a power to persuade others to leave sin. An individual who demonstrates interest in earthly things in preference to the spiritual, is not an influence upon others to place preeminence upon spiritual matters. An individual who pleases self cannot cause others to leave pleasure to follow Christ. Being salt, having saltiness within ourselves, is the result of putting the kingdom of God first in our lives. If we do not, we are not able to influence others. We cannot persuade another to have an interest in things which are not worth our own support or sacrifice. We must prove to others that obstacles from the earth are inferior and that our faith is superior to the obstacle; then we can have the power of influence to instruct others to put the kingdom of God first. If we dont ...we are useless to God...and thrown out. -James F. Johnson
