Usually I dont worry to much about severe thunderstorm warnings, but this actually has me scared to death!! I am trying to stay calm for Baileys sake, but i really am quaking in my boots! Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for: Brockville - Prescott Gananoque - Mallorytown Merrickville-Wolford - Kemptville Westport - Charleston Lake Severe thunderstorm conditions possible - late afternoon to late evening. Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain. Rainfall amounts of 50 to 75 mm in an hour or less are possible. Fast moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Stay indoors when a thunderstorm strikes. There isnt a place outside that is safe during a thunderstorm. Stay away from all windows, skylights and doors. In Canada, lightning kills up to 10 people every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors. Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.
