Usually the most explosive athletes on the field are the ones who are going to be dominating the game. Maximal strength is the basis of explosive ability. No strength = no explosive ability. If you are doing endless band resisted sprints but cant squat 2 wet socks you are spinning your wheels. This doesnt mean you should be able to squat 4 times bodyweight in order to become an explosive athlete. But it does mean if you cant squat at least double bodyweight (if you are not a super heavyweight) with ease you will not be able to unlock your full athletic potential. And it doesnt stop at squatting - the same goes for the deadlift, chinup, standing press and bench press. This is what we teach our athletes and this is how we train them.
