Utila makes you feel like youve lived here your entire life. After interacting once with a few locals during the day I am welcomed warmly and embraced at the bars in the evening. Time is different here. You can enjoy a morning scuba dive, lunch with friends, and a comfortable walk around town and feel complete. A brief nap seems like a requirement before enjoying the night life Utila offers. With a splash of charisma, I was able to charm the bartender at Coco Loco to serve their trademark drink, a fresh coconut with rum. This required a man taking a machete and running to cut down a coconut on a night they didnt have coconuts to serve. The Guifity challenge at Skid Row is a true test of a mans will to drink. Utila has its own rendition of Disney Land known as Treetanic, a labor of love morphed into a hotel, bar, and tree house designed entirely of mosaic tiles. The musician performing with his acoustic guitar eases you into the island and helps you forget about the rainy weather. Utila isnt the American version of paradise island. However, I have found myself in paradise with amazing people.
