V C Commends SSANU, Commissions Vehicle The Management of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education has commended the leadership of the institution’s chapter of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) over its remarkable strides in the university. This commendation was made at the main campus of the institution by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Rosemund Dienye Green-Osahogulu during the commissioning of a Toyota Sienna Mini-van bought by the serving executive of the body. Represented by the Registrar, Barrister Ikem Adiele, the V-C described the vehicle as a monumental achievement and a sign of judicious use of the dues deducted from the salaries of members of the body. The V-C equally noted that SSANU in the university has maintained a labour friendly disposition towards the management, while also acknowledging that members of the union have performed their duties in line with the goals and objectives of the university. “You have brought the image of the university to limelight,” she declared. Commenting on the delay in the promotion to the deputy registrar position as well as the promotion and conversion of other cadres of registry staff, Professor Green-Osahogulu regretted the delay but reaffirmed that every qualified staff would be promoted or converted as the case may be. She further disclosed that management had approved office accommodation for SSANU and commended members of the body for their individual and collective contributions to the growth of the university. Earlier in his remarks, Chairman of the body, Comrade Obi Wichendu who disclosed that the acquisition of the vehicle was to boast the image of the university during National Executive Council (NEC) meetings of SSANU, equally informed the gathering that the chapter would host the eastern zone meeting of the union in 2014. While attributing the internal labour harmony between the management and the union to amicable resolution of issues, he however, appealed to management for the promotion of qualified members to deputy registrar position as well as the promotion and conversion of other cadres of staff, including the establishment of a directorate cadre. Comrade Wichendu who reminded the university authority of the union’s request for a plot of land to build its secretariat, equally attributed the success of his administration to the cooperation of members, and assured that he would continue to put their welfare on the front burner.
