VERY URGENT UPDATE! STOP WILDLIFE ARMAGEDDON! VOICE YOUR OPPOSITION TO S.2363 BY CALLING YOUR SENATORS NOW. The “bipartisan sportsmen’s bill” is now moving to a debate scheduled to start today! CLICK see more to READ, PLEASE! https://govtrack.us/congress/bills/113/s2363 Senators Isakson and Chambliss are two of the 45 cosponsors. B Everyone needs to call both of his/her Senators anyway. Just a few of the cunning bills features: 1. S. 2 363 would mandate a free-for-all of trappers/hunters/fishermen/fun shooters on National Forests and Bureau of Land Management land. B How much land is that? 700 million acres, that is, 1.85 times the size of Alaska . B This land, plus the plants and animals inhabiting it, belong to YOU. B Your taxes support them.B 2 . It would get killers into National Parks (where law has long excluded them). 3. Polar bear trophies and body parts fromB CanadaB could be imported into theB US , drivingB persecution of the imperiled species. 4. The Environmental Protection Agency would be barred from regulating lead in ammunition and fishing sinkers. Lead is a neurotoxin weve eliminated from gasoline, paint, and toys. But 3,000 tons per year of shot and bullets are fired into the wild and 4,000 tons/year of fishing tackle are lost in ponds and streams. Eagles, condors, owls, and hawks are poisoned when they eat spent lead fragments in the flesh of animals that were shot. The bill explicitly forbids scientists from even considering this issue. 5. S. 2 363 is unnecessary, redundant since most National Forests and BLM lands are hunted, trapped, and fished already. B Many have public shooting ranges. B 6. Land managers would be forced to show the backseat toB the nonviolent majority of Americans and their families (who enjoy, e.g., hiking, biking, bird watching, camping, and kayaking). Trappers, hunters, anglers, and gunmen would get priority. Thanks! B Youre making a difference for animals!
