~~~VERY, VERY, VERY SWEET DOG~~~ A volunteer writes: Meet Sands! Found along the beach in Far Rockaway, its hard to believe someone would let this little guy get away! Sands has a cuteness that cannot be captured in a photo. He is not very big, has beautiful bright eyes, ears that are the perfect balance of floppy and perky, and there is something unique about his snout...well, his cuteness cant really be captured in words either!! Looks aside, Sands has the softest personality. While filling out a walk log for him, I noticed a previous entry by a staff member who noted that Sands is a very, very, very sweet dog! If not limited to a single line on an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper, Im pretty sure he wouldnt have stopped at three verys! Sands loves people and wants to be very close. On our first walk it seemed with each forward stride I took with one leg, Sands was like a magnet to the other - almost like we were doing a dance routine, him weaving in and out of my legs. While that walk was a bit clumsy (he can be a little shy and nervous at first), Sands walks very nicely on leash. He is always quick and eager to relieve himself outside and likely has some housetraining. He knows sit and takes treats very nicely. Sands is always very attentive to his person, but does show interest in other dogs and seems friendly. He loves to be pet and is very affectionate - giving hugs, kisses and crawling into my lap when given the opportunity. He is playful, but even in play maintains a sort of gentleness. When I threw a tennis ball for him he gallivanted after it, batted it with his paws and sized it up with his mouth, before deciding to leave it behind and trot back over to me for more cuddling! Sands is very special and has already stolen the hearts of staff and volunteers - please give him the chance to steal yours, hed love to meet you.
