VETERAN SALUTE! WWII Veteran Lt. Col. Chuck Childs stopped in for a visit at the Museum yesterday while on his way home from his 70th Anniversary of WWII trip to Czechoslovakia to honor his fallen comrades. He is a very articulate, well spoken man, and we certainly enjoyed the stories he shared. He decided to get a little flying time in since the day was so beautiful, so he and Ron flew around the airport in the PT-26 as shown in the pictures here. Lt. Col. Childs also presented us with a signed certificate for the Museum that the Czechoslovakian people presented to him while he was at a memorial service there. The certificate which is shown here includes the B-17 he flew in WW-II which was named Gravel Gertie after a cartoon character of the day.
