VETERINARY ASSISTANT NEEDED IMMEDIATELY We are looking for a hard working honest individual who is comfortable and confident with horses to join us in an exclusive equine ambulatory practice as a Veterinary Assistant. This particular position is a full time position in central Ohio which would occasionally include traveling out of state to a standardbred racetrack and include one overnight stay per week. Typical work week is 5 days. Must be able to bend over, squat down, lift, etc., to perform various tasks such as carrying and setting up equipment, clipping legs, scrubbing joints, cleaning feet, preparing for radiographs, jogging with horses in hand, etc. Work duties include but are not limited to the following: Getting horses from their stalls, assist with lameness exams, restraint, sterile scrubs for injections, bandaging legs, helping prepare medications, help with taking X-Rays, re-stocking the truck, etc. This person will also be expected to learn how to properly set up and use digital radiograph equipment, ultrasound machines, endoscopes, dentistry equipment, shockwave machines, computers and understand office billing procedures, etc. This individual will also be expected to drive some of the time and therefore have a good driving record. Applicant must be able to pass a background check. This position is paid a competitive hourly wage including overtime, health insurance if required (50% paid by us) and a 401K plan with a 4% company match. If traveling and staying overnight out of state, we also pay for dinner and a place to stay at a local hotel/ motel. Veterinary Assistant licensing at racetracks is paid by us as well. One week paid vacation is offered after 1 year of service. This is a great opportunity to see and experience a lot of performance medicine and lameness type issues of the horse along with general practice and use some of the latest technology in diagnostics treatment.
