VGP – PM Nguyen Tan Dung has asked the northern province of Yen Bai to promote its potential, particularly that in agriculture, forestry, transportation infrastructure while mobilizing resources for construction and development. Photo: VGP PM Dung made this request during a meeting with local leaders on the socio-economic development on September 19. He praised the locality’s achievements and expressed his hope that Yen Bai would continue to fix weaknesses and be creative and dynamic in fulfill ing its targets set for 2014 and the future. PM Dung also reminded the officials about the province’s transportation advantage coming from the Noi Bai-Lao Cai highway, which connects Ha Noi with China’s markets, saying that the Government would support localities to construct roads connecting with the highway to utilize its power. He also required the leaders to better new rural area construction via practical plans and actions, creating favorable conditions for businesses to invest in rural areas and improve people’s living standards. In addition, PM Dung asked Yen Bai to take effective measures to address matters related to health care, culture and education while focussing further on human resource development and poverty reduction. According to the province’s report, the local socio-economic situation in the first eight months of this year has seen positive changes. The industrial production index in the past eight months has increased by 7 percent and GDP is estimated to reach 10.4 percent this year. Earlier, PM Dung offered incense to late President Ho Chi Minh at his temple in Tuyen Quang city and visited the An Hoa Paper Joint Stock Company in Vinh Loi commune, Son Duong district. By Vien Nhu
