VICIOUS DEATH TRAP IN #TASCE The announcement of the death of Mr Mabadeje hit me in the face like an unexpected dirty slap and got me thinking. Its been 6 years and the poverty-induced mortality rate is soaring in Tai Solarin College of Education Omu Ijebu. As the only Medical doctor in the College, I feel pained and utterly dejected that staffs have been dying from preventable and avoidable causes. What has happened to the underlisted is affecting every single member of staff in TASCE OMU. Our lifespan is continously been threatened and shortened just by working for Ogun State Government at the only College of Education in the state, Tai Solarin College of Education Omu Ijebu. 1.YEMI ASENOWO (RIP) had an injury that left his left arm shattered. Hes had two successful surgeries but paucity of funds from unpaid salary made him stop. He died in the hands of a quack who promised to do more for less. He was a Higher Executive Officer. 2. YEMI OSINULU (RIP) had breast lump which was suspicious and was promptly referred to the surgeon. She instead went to traditional Medical home where she died. She was an Admin Officer. 3. MRS AKINTAYO (RIP) has abdominal problems. She spent valuable weeks in the church hoping for miracles. She couldnt afford hospital care. She died. She was a Senior Staff. 4. MR POPOOLA (RIP) had a swelling on the tongue and went herbal for months. By the time he presented himself for medicare, a malignant tumor was suspected and was referred promptly. He wasted months trying to raise funds and later died in LUTH. He was a Lecturer. 5. MRS BOLA TAIWO (RIP) has been battling with hypertension for years. She couldnt afford specialist care, not because she was poor, but because 90days make a pay in TASCE OMU. She collapsed and died in the French Village in Badagry where she has taken the students for practicals. She was a Lecturer. 6. MR Z. O. OMOLADE (RIP) slumped and died on suddenly on hearing a bad news. Hes been hypertensive but couldnt afford specialist care. He was a Lecturer. 7. MR BADEJO (RIP) had an accident and died in at home. He could not afford hospital care. 8. MRS ADELEYE. (RIP) was diabetic. She could not afford the afford the financial demands of her illness. And she died 9. MR APATAMU (RIP) had an accident. He was admitted in a hospital initially but asked for discharge due to paucity of funds. He died at home. 10. MR MABADEJE (RIP) died early today of diabetes. He was very enlightened and understands the management of his condition. He works hard at keeping himself alive and bubbly despite the illness but poor finances eventually took the better of him. He died of poverty. He was a Lecturer. We are all dying from chronic and systematic impoverishment. I believe the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, understands the peculiarity of our situation. He should take another look at TASCE OMU. GOD BLESS OGUN STATE
