VIOLENT ALLEGED SHOPLIFTER ARRESTED - RICHMOND On Thursday 22 May 2014 a 35 year old male from Richmond was allegedly seen to take an item from a retail store in Richmond without paying for it. The male was followed outside and confronted before he threatened the person with a broken bottle before dropping it and walking away. An off duty Police Officer saw the commotion and approached the male whilst emergency services were contacted. The female Police Officer was then threatened by the male who then swung a punch at her before decamping. Windsor Police officers later located the male in Richmond. The male has since been charged with ten offences, including Using an offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, Armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, Affray, Stealing, Assault officer in execution of duty and Common Assault. The male was also charged with four counts of Trespass after returning to another retail store in Richmond a number of times after having previously been banned from entering the location. He will appear before Windsor Local Court on 18 June 2014.
