VJ Backs Opposition Shunning Constitution Indaba Veteran politician Vernon Mwaanga has backed opposition political parties’ decision to shun the constitution making indaba in the absence of President Michael Sata. Mwaanga said that the Head of State needed to show the way in promoting dialogue. He said if government was not willing to dialogue it was not necessary to attend the gathering. “It is a matter of deep regret that their request for dialogue has not been granted in the past,” he said. “It is an extremely dangerous approach by government to not encourage dialogue. They should be able to meet the opposition and settle some of the outstanding issues.” Sixteen opposition political parties have written to President Sata requesting dialogue over the constitution making process. However, the Head of State has yet to respond to the letter. The Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes has called for an indaba over the constitution set for April 30 in Lusaka. zambiareports/2014/04/28/vj-backs-opposition-shunning-constitution-indaba/
