Vacancies for Odysseus Researchers on Higher Education Governance, Ghent University, Belgium The National Universities Commission (NUC) is in receipt of a call circular, for applications from interested and qualified candidates, fo r the Odysseus Research Projects on Higher Education Governance, funded by the Flemish Research Council, for five (5) years, at the Department of Sociology, Ghent University, Belgium, for the following positions: a) Three (3) Post-Doctoral Researchers b) Three (3) PhD Students The three (3) Post-Doctoral Research candidate s should hold a PhD degree in the Social Sciences, preferably Sociology, Public Administration, Political Sciences/Educational Studies, or any equivalent degree . Other requirements include cognate experience in the field of study (Higher Education Governance Project), with bias to policy, governance/management and publications in national and international peer reviewed journals/books. Candidates are also require d to possess necessary organisational and communication skills for teaching at an academic level. Previous records of applying for and coordinating national and international resear ch projects is an additional advantage. Interested candidates are to send their curriculum vitae, accompanied by a brief motivation letter and a maximum of 2 pages summary of research interest. The three (3) PhD projects should focus on an element of the broader research on how governance arrangements evolve and impact on higher education and the response of the institutions to the emerging governance. Successful candidates will be offered full-time PhD positions for four (4) years in the research proj ect (students will be initially appointed for two years, with the possibility of an extension for tw o years). Applicants must be eligible for PhD studies and will be enrolled in the Doctoral School Programme of Ghent University, Page 25 Belgium. Candidates will perform their research in a multi-disciplinary collaboration of different research groups at Ghent University. Interested PhD students are required to send descriptions of their past work, statement of re search interest (maximum of 2 pages outline); curriculum vitae (including grades, courses, tit le of Masters’ theses and lists of any publication, as well as mails and e-mails of referees. Students currently completing their Masters’ degrees are encouraged to apply.
