D-Day entered into Nominations (@ NATA 2014 Conventions Short film contest)…With all your blessings, wish it could bring laurels to Atlanta... Here are the testimonials from some of the pioneers of Asian Indian Immigrants (of 60s, 70s, 80s and so on - into Atlanta\USA) - on D- Days story point, poster and teaser … [Smt. Lakshmi Rao (wife of కీ.శే. Dr. P.V.Rao - one of the few who landed up here in 60s): “Ramesh, I am very happy about the idea. I liked the short trailer you sent. I want to see the full one, though eight minutes seems to be very short. I would like to compliment you for the excellent attempt. All the best.” Dr. Ranakumar Nadella (landed in 60s): Ramesh: It is an interesting and worthwhile topic. Congratulations for tackling a timely subject. I am interested in seeing the full length feature after the contest in July. Thanks for your effort. Dr. Sarvesh Naidu and Mano Naidu (of 70s): “The topic you have chosen and touched is very close to my heart. As chinmayananda once said civilization flourishes with promotion of culture and when cultural values decline the civilization breaks down. Our religious masters time and again revived the philosophical and religious values and arrested the deterioration of the culture. As parents of today it is our duty to see that the youth of today are educated to understand our culture.Thank you for giving me this opportunity to express my thoughts. Let us look into ways of reaching the goal in the near future.” Dr. BK Mohan (of 70s): “Dear Ramesh garu, What I have read and viewed looks very good. Theme is very nice. If you can maintain the same tempo, it will be very nice. Thank you for letting me view this teaser.” Dr. P Ravi Sarma (of 70s): “రమేష్ గారు, మీ D Day ఆలోచన చాలా బాగుంది. తర తరాల మధ్య/ తూర్పు పడమరల మధ్య ఉన్న ఘర్షణ మీరు చిత్రీకరించడము మంచిదే. ఈ చిన్న చలన చిత్రము చూసిన తరువాత చాలా మంది వారి జీవితాలు ఎలా వున్నాయో అని ఆలోచిన్చుతారని నేను అనుకుంటున్నాను. రవి శర్మ” Dr. Seshu Sarma (of 70s): “Ramesh Garu, I like the poster very much! See some familiar faces. I watched the video. The video looks great; done professionally. The name is catchy! The theme is interesting. I would love to watch the whole film. Thanks, Seshu” Dr. Damodar Reddy (of 70s): Ramesh Babu, Here is my comment from watching the short film teaser. After watching the short film teaser that you have sent me the link to, I am very interested in reviewing the eight-minute film on how the relationship between the first and second generation Indians is portrayed --- one where the best of the two cultures is embraced OR one where each generation stubbornly follows different paths leading to continuous conflicts. Dr. Mangaraju Vanapalli (of 70s): “Dear Mr. Maanyam: It is very nice of you to call me and explain about your ideas about D-Day short film. Trust me, it has been an ongoing concern since our times and I am very happy that you took up that point for your debut short movie. Thank you, I believe that would be definitely useful to take away a bit for all the generations. I’ve a few live-examples to share with you and I will do that when I get back from vacation on July 1st. My best wishes to your project. Let me know if can be of any help to you after I come back.” Sri Narender G Reddy: “Hello Ramesh, Thank you for sharing the poster. The subject, balancing the culture of two generations, is one that most of us could relate to. If the poster is any indicative, I strongly believe that you have a great film on your hands. Looking forward to see the entire film.” Sri Shaker Reddy (of 80s): “Ramesh. I am sorry not to get the info you wanted. I have been extremely busy with conference meetings. Will send it once I’m back in the 1st week of July.. Regards shaker Sent from my iPhone. ” Dr.Sunkara Ranga Rao (of 80s): “Namaste, Rameshbabu garu, In your innovation, we all see, a youthful vision; As NATA, I hope, will meet this in their mission! Best of Luck, JSRam, Dr. Ranga Rao.” Dr. Venu Dasigi: “Dear Ramesh garu, Namaste. Here are my thoughts based on what you have sent: It definitely draws initial attention. The poster is interesting, although the contrast it displays may be a little too jarring. Also, not sure your picture captures the first part of the intro (the ఖండఖండాంతరాలు దాటినా part). The clip shows the father, but very little of the next generation; you may want to balance it a bit more. Unclear what the ultimate message or how the progression of the short film will be; that will be the ultimate proof of the pudding”. All the best with your efforts!” Dr. Kasi Somayajula (of 80s): Ramesh garu,Namaste. Thank you for sharing the 46 seconds glimpse of your short film D-Day.The theme is so close to the hearts of many immigrants. Aconversations between immigrant parents and children are inter-twined with conflicting cultures and generations. The parents are caught chasing this mirage and are constantly finding ways to reach a comfortable place. I look forward to experience these conversations in your short film D-Day. I wish you all the best.” Sri Mohan Rao Ragala: “Dear Ramesh, This is teaser at first look. Good Attempt. Impressive script/subtitles. Poster is index of the movie content. Trailer is the torch leading the way to movie! I would love to have light and rib tickling comic lines in the script, as humor has the power to convey the msg well. In all, all smart dads are like their loving kids! Because child is father of the man! ఉ ఉ లు కాదు - క ఉలే - తర సంధికి వారధి! (Upanyasalu Upodghathalu kaadu - kalise uddesyale............).” Sri Ravi Penumarthi: “Ramesh garu: I have seen the teaser. Your efforts to involve our young talent and putting together a perspective of the diaspora is commendable. Our children have the opportunity to adopt the best of both worlds. Your attempts to bring that together are greatly appreciated.” Sri Viju Chiluveru: “Ramesh Garu, A bold effort in depicting the predicament of parents in every Desi family living in Western Countries. A quick look at this 45 seconds trailer clip, together with the poster, are raising a bit of curiosity to see how both parties view this issue. Will one understand another or will agree to disagree? A must-watch film. I will have a complete review of the film when I get to watch it fully. I have known you since 2002; watched you write and perform several similar items. I am sure this will raise the Manyam bar. Good luck!” Sri Balarami Valluru: “Hi Ramesh, I am glad still you are working in this line. I saw the clipping of the film. Looks good and hope the whole film looks more exiting also. Good luck.” Sri Ramesh Gude: “I liked it, I look forward long films (10 plus ones) soon. Best of Luck.” Sri Prasad Nimmagadda: “Ramesh garu - The trailer is awesome - the topic is very germane to our times now, and I cant wait to see the complete short film in the upcoming NATA convention... I can see you & your family put heart & soul into this effort. Wishing you the best of success now and in the future!!” Sri Parmesh Erramilli: “Brother Ramesh, Making such a movie is highly appreciated. To understand that our children, on a daily basis, feel the pressure of moving between the two different cultures - is a first step to assimilating into American main stream. As Indians, we are currently viewed as competent professionals, but a product of culture which is slight insular with a need to evolve. Mainstream perceptions are based on how our childrens interaction. Our childrens prospects will be directly dependent on those perceptions. Your movie, I presume, is also solution oriented. If that is the case, it is well made video. If you want it tease our interest, it would help to throw in few tidbits of how to overcome the existing conditions. Right now it holds our eye, but it throws a few questions as to where the movie is headed. If our children are comfortable in the mix of mainstream and our Telugu culture, they won’t need to defend it but as who they are part of, and get on with life. Best Wishes for your laudable effort. “ Dr. Vijay Vemulapalli: “Dear Ramesh, I looked at the teaser. Concept is good. I am sure it will have your funny to touch to this serious subject. All the Best in the competition.” Sri Suresh Kolicahla: “Dear Ramesh, Your trailer looks clean and interesting. Good luck with the contest.” Sri Madhu Tata: “Hello Ramesh Garu, Good start andi. I liked introduction. All the best. I am currently out of station. Sent from my iPhone 5.” Promod Sajja (Paramount Software Solutions): “Hi Rameshbabu garu, I watched it and its good. A good effort on an issue which we all face as immigrants irrespective of which culture or community we come from. The gap between generations among immigrant families are a different one and this one is a good attempt to bridge that gap.” Gopal Bhattar (Priest of Hindu Temple of Atlanta - landing with Lord Balaji in 1991, dedicated his devotional services till date): “The teaser is very interesting and intriguing. It captures many parents’ struggles to pass the tradition so very much looking forward to see the complete film. Best wishes and blessings.” ---- We here by bow our head and say ‘salaam namaste’ to all of them - not only to reiterate that we do learn a lot from them, but also to ensure that we would follow the path they paved the way for... youtu.be/QwLUw_ctz2s
